Hi,

 

Could someone please let me know how to use the Skoda Drive app. I initially started the SmartGate app on my Android Nexus 6 (Android V 7.0) and joined the cars WiFi. The car then did an update and I was then to disconnect and reconnect using WiFi direct on my phone so I could share my data with the car.

 

When I go into the Skoda drive app and sign in it doesn't seem to do anything and just disconnects. Other SmartGate apps work OK on my phone, it's just this drive one I'm having issues with .

 

Is there a SmartGate user guide available. The car is a new 1.4 SE L and came with SmartGate and Smartlink as options I chose.

I tried all those suggestions and the manuals section only gives me the actual car user manual which doesn't cover the SmartGate apps.

Try a dealer or Skoda customer services.

I've found that for the best experience you need to go into the smartgate app settings and change it to allow mobile data while connected. That will make your phone connect to the car via wifi-direct, allowing you to keep your mobile data active.

Use the smartgate app to make the connection initially then afterwards you should be able to just open up one of the smartgate enabled apps and it'll find your car... in theory. 

 

To be fair, I've got it but don't use it as much as I'd hoped. I thought it would be able to plod on in the background and record my journey/miieages but in reality I'd have to go into the app and check that it's connected every time I start the car.
