Haldex unit swap Gen2 vs Gen4

Hello!

I know the Gen2 and Gen4 operate differently, but is the haldex unit in itself also different?

Have been checking pictures and they do look very much alike.

So my question is, are they interchangeable if one swap over the controller?

The reason for asking is leaking and play in the left driveshaft on my 08 Scout, and a local to me has a Gen4 at a decent price.
