Washer Fluid Top Up - Warning Message - Repeating..

This has really done my head in today, first of all the warning came on, fair dos...  10 mins later when still driving it pops up again... this repeated for the full journey giving around 8 or 9 bongs and warnings.

What seems to be happening when the fluid is right on the warning limit, while driving the movement of fluid  knocks the warning off and then once on settled ground it triggers again.

Why is not the warning saved in cache / memory until when the car is next restarted ???

Anyone else had this.??

Yes - I had this too, when the fluid is right in the middle of the warning limit. When I drive up and down some hills, I get bongs and warnings all the time.

Thanks for replying and confirming.

Very poor design

Same thing happens on my MkI Fabia.

What I do to prevent it happening is I fill up the washer fluid.

Not ideal when there's still at least half a litre of screen wash left in there and not wanting to stop on that journey...

If it was an old car, maybe more understandable.

Spoken like a true Yorkshireman :D;)

Glad it's not just me.  Have had it a few times, the last occasion it went ping every time I went slightly up a hill!

Just use the washers a bit more to get it well below the level that triggers the warning, not ideal I know but at least it won't keep bonging at you.

When my low level warning comes on I can hardly get 2 litres into the tank, surely it holds a lot more than this?

I did think of that in fact yesterday.. but then was still 100 miles from home and dont have any real idea how much was left - going to top it up later today and will report how much i get in.

On page 179 of the manual, there is info on windwasher fluid container capacity.

It's 4.7 litres for xenon and 3.7 litres for "regular"

I have a similar problem plus suspected a bit of a leak. I took it into Skoda but they said all was fine. I took it home with the reservoir full, left it in the garage for a week as we were away. On my return there was no visible fluid in the upper part of the reservoir and it took 0.5 litres to refill it. So it's leaking around 0.5 litres per week. I then drove about 100 miles, used the washers a handful of times and the low light / warning gong came on. I didn't use the washers again and when I got home it took just 1.6 litres to refill. It's going back to the dealers early January.

I have a feeling that the reservoir on the tsi engines is in a different place from the diesels and maybe is smaller? I've undone the wheel arch to have a look at the reservoir and it does look as though the sensor is quite high up the reservoir. If it transpires that the light and warning gong is always going to come on after such a small amount of usage, I think I'll try to disable it in VCDS or manually. Seems a major design fault!
