I see this every day going past J21 (Leicester) on the M1. The safest lane when travelling south is the 4th lane due to stationary traffic, people suddenly changing lanes to exit the motorway. Going in the other direction (north) it is safer to move to the middle lane when approaching the slip road as some vehicles are moving quite slowly as they merge with the motorway. Lots of accidents at this junction particularly on saturdays when visiting football fans are not familiar with the area.

That's where the M69 ends, and you get a dedicated slip from it to the M1 North, and a merging slip off the J21 roundabout.

That's the problem 2 slip roads merging and joining the M1. total of 5 lanes merging into 4 lanes, guarantees fun and games.

Well, it's years ago but I've encountered that junction from the M69 East, and it's M69 slip merges with traffic from the roundabout, then with the M1 North.
