Play youtube in car screen

Featured Replies

Is any way for play youtube via mirrorlink, when car is parked?.

I have Samsung note 5 not rooted.

Yes, just open the app when you are connected with MirrorLink and off you go.

I've done this on both HTC M8 and HTC 10 phones without issue. On mine the screen on the phone stayed on both times and wouldn't turn off without stopping YouTube playback.

I found MirrorLink a little pointless for anything other than watching videos when stationary. Android Auto on the other hand is great for nav with Google Maps and music playback.

I love being able to use voice control to just shout out a song and it plays. Young daughter loves it for same reason.

How to open app?

There is no YouTube app available in mirror link.

I'll hook it up and post the steps I took. I don't remember what I did. Certainly wasn't anything other then connecting and then opening the app. Although I may have had to drop back to the home screen or something.

More later...

I tried many times unsuccessfully. Waiting for your update.

Sorry, car was in for service. Will look tonight.

Ok So I did some testing yesterday and realised that my current phone (HTC 10) doesn't support sharing anything by MirrorLink.

My previous phone, HTC One (M8) did though. There was a HTC Car app that needed to be running in order for MirrorLink to pickup the phone. Once this was active, it was just a case of the phone's screen being mirrored on the Columbus screen. YouTube was just an app that was accessible from the car app.

Android Auto worked fine on both, but you get the reduced set of options, mostly focussed around music, nav and calls.

If you don't already have a 'car' app or mode on your phone, you may be able to find one that will work from Google Play.

Hope this information is useful.

I tried to connect my HTC 10 via mirrorlink to see if Sygic is working and it did, I have managed to have screen on Bolero radio the only think is that I couldnt test more cuz I didnt bought the Sygic car app by then. But I get my superb in few days and I will report later :)

Sounds like this is Sygic supporting Mirrorlink and not necassarily just the phone on it's own. On my M8 I had the home screen from the car app working and could open a few different apps.
