dashboard shelf removal

Featured Replies

Unfortunately my parking pass has decided to fall down between the windscreen and far lip of the dashboard shelf.

It's not obvious how to remove the shelf to get access. Does anyone know the correct way to do this?

Can you see your pass using a small mirror?

This is a huge job, and nothing you want to do for a parking pass.

There are several screws hidden behind the instrument cluster, behind the heater control and in both ends of the dashboard.

Steering wheel must off, passenger airbag etc etc

A thin stick with something sticky on may retrieve it.

Interesting i thought the top part of the dash was all one unit, i.e the whole of the dash is one part. I looked into this and quite rightly told from knowlagable people on this forum not to even bother messing on with it as its all one unit. Mainly as it will never go back properly.

I spent ages looking into it, but all the technical manuals indicate its one part, i know it looks like two and it looks like it can be unbolted, but unfortunately it isn't.

I also looked at the part numbers and the is only one for the dash assembaly. I would be well happy if the top part of the dash is removable and has a seperate part number and can be purchased.

Maybe you can get it if you remove the glove box, you can buy a cheep boroscope, maybe you can see it if you go through the glove box.

Wow...doing the dashboard removal is one of the most crazy jobs I could imagine in Octy. It's a complete integrated component and a ton of work (check service man.) to remove. My guess is you would never get your car to original shape with few added rattles, buzzes, etc. Try to get the card out the same way it went in (as suggested above with a sticky wand or some clawed thingy) or simply say goodbye to it and get a new one.
