Service level indicator - when should it come on

Featured Replies

I thought the service level indicator was supposed to come on when 10,000 miles had elapsed (on a fixed service schedule)

Looking through my previous 3 service records shows it comes on at 9300 miles -> the display shows: 'you need to change the oil in 100 miles' type thing.

I am guessing it comes on slightly early to allow the car to be booked in and serviced before going over the stated service mileage interval.

I seem to recall the service rep saying that Skoda will permit slightly more that 10,000 miles to elapse before servicing and still honor the car warranty. The figure quoted was in the high hundreds - no idea if this is true or not. I certainly wouldn't want to try this and find out it's false information.

If you reset on some cars 9,400 miles / 372 days. (a year and a week.)  9,400 miles being near 15,000 km.  A year and a week because of a PDI and possible holidays.....

your Warranty speaks of Service Schedule / Guidelines,

& if an Engine car have Variable Servicing & has in Long life oil 10,000 miles might show on a Service Indicator,

it is not a reason to Invalidate a Warranty.

But then Dealership Staff say lots, & some set Variable Services to Fixed without asking the vehicles owner.

Ditto - also on fixed servicing last at 10005 miles, Feb this year. However since hitting 18200 the service display has been counting down from 500, today saying 100 when I am still under 19k, strange.

I have no intention of getting a sevice until 20k when its actually due.

On my last 10k service my dealer said anything up to 1k over the top of is ok re warranty.

Sweet baby Jesus, make sure you get it done before it hits zero. Mine is booked in this week. Nevertheless, for the last w weeks it has reminded me that the inspection is now due EVERY.FRICKING. TIME.I.GET.IN.THE.CAR.

it's SO annoying.

Maybe once a day would have been enough, but if I'm in and out of my car fifteen times a day, Skoda deemed it important to tell me fifteen times. Like they thought I had selective Alzheimer's.

Glad I asked the question now. At least I know I've got a minimum of 700 miles to play around with before absolutely needing to do something

..but on the other hand do I really want the aggro as mentioned in post #4

Also bear in mind dealers sometimes have 2 to 3 week waiting time.

The wife's vrs had an oil service in February @ 7150 miles this year, beginning of December it started the oil service count down the car has done 16000 miles so far, to confuse matters even more it needs an inspection service in February (2017) so I've booked it in for the end of January the oil service is actually over due now but I was told providing I don't go over the 10k 12 month the oil service can wait till the inspection service,

Confused or what:/
