Kessey Drivers Door handle not working

Featured Replies

Hi, can anyone help me.

i have a '11 Superb Greenline with Kessey and been having some issues. Over the last couple of months i have found that the drivers door handle has become a bit hit-n-miss. Touching the "unlock" or "lock" parts often did not unlock or lock, sometimes i had to touch/tap 2-3 times before it would react. now it has stopped working altogether.

i have replaced the key-fob battery, but that has not improved anything.

Other parts of the kessey system work fine. The passenger side handle works fine for both lock and unlock, the ignition stop-start is fine, and pressing the remote buttons on the key lock and unlock just fine. i have tried the second key, with the same results.

doing some searches it looks like it is either the sensors in the handle have failed, or the kessey antenna on the drivers side has failed. anyone got any experience on replacing either of them?

thanks in advance

Have you tried something very simple.

Like next time you get out of the car, Lock then unlock using button on the fob, then next time see if you still get the same issue ?,   SWMBO had similar random events wfatre chainging fob battery, this seemed to recync.

I have intermittent issues with my KESSY as well.  A couple of suggestions apart from the battery which you have obviously done already:

Is it wet when you are trying to lock/unlock with KESSY when you experience that issue?  I find that wet (or even cold) conditions make it temperamental at times.

Do you have your phone or anything with a magnetic field near your key fob or in the same pocket as the fob?  This also impacts the operation of KESSY

I did have a sensor replaced a while back (after only a year or so) and that could well be the issue as you point out.

By the way, I would say the batteries need to be replaced frequently (annually at least) for KESSY to work effectively.

IFC- thanks. Yes, have tried locking/unlocking using the buttons on the fob many times . unfortunately it does not make any difference :(

Superb, thanks.

at first I wondered if it was related to being wet/cold, but after many weeks now I have come to the conclusion that this is not making any difference. Especially now it has stopped working altogether on the drivers side :)

I have noticed a phone in the pocket can significantly affect the handles operation. I made sure in my testing that I did not have a phone on me. once it stopped working altogether I even tried with the key in the hand used to touch/tap the handle - still no luck.

I have performed numerous tests and tried various combinations, and I am pretty convinced it is either the handle sensors or the KESSY antenna - there is nothing wrong with the passenger door or boot lid locking/unlocking, only the drivers door. this indicates it is unlikely to be a failure of KESSY overall, nor the fob battery (which is only about 1 month old now). Similar with the ignition start/stop - no issues there, so indicates the overall system is most likely ok.

Doing various searches, it looks like the antenna is pretty cheap to buy (less than £10 on ebay), but I cannot find any details of how to access it - I presume it is in the door and I can access it by removing the interior door trim, but if anyone has any experience of replacing the antenna it would be appreciated. Replacement handles (with KESSY) are on there for around £50 (but would likely need spraying to match colour).

This is interesting - I am also finding the drivers door keyless unlock is slightly less reliable than (in particular) the boot.

It most frequently seems to not work if I've previously opened and closed the boot before. Ive also got an '11 plate superb...
