re-mapped monte carlo diesel

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am new to this site so hi everyone.

I was wondering if you skoda gurus could help me.

I own a 13 plate diesel monte carlo which has been re-mapped. I am over the moon with the re-map and my MPG is fantastic also the increase in bhp is more than adequate. it has now been running superbly for around 6 months with zero issues........ however on my way into work this morning I had some bell end up my arse and wasn't keeping a check on my rev counter so may have over revved the car to the point it seemed to stall for a second then re-start then I had a yellow coil light flashing on the dash and my car seemed to be limp and couldn't accelerate. I managed to limp to work and its now sitting in the car park and I am in panic mode that its going to die?? help anyone

I am by no means a boy racer and drive quite sensibly so its not like the car is being thrashed on a daily basis it isn't

any help please

First things first, you need to get your ECU scanned to see if it logged any faults.

where will I get that checked??

if I take it back to dealer will they not remove my re-map

Its probably fine, it might start and drive home no problem :)

I wouldn't worry about the remap unless the dealers are doing software updates.

Maybe time for a new Fuel Filter, and any other servicing and maintenance if not done recently.

I had that or something and the coil light is the one that usually come on for the heater plugs, my light was as a result of a egr issue

I have been out at lunchtime and car is running fine again.

I rang my re-map guy and he's advised its gone into a safe mode for some reason. its booked in Thursday to check if a fault has been logged and what it is for future reference.

thanks for the suggestions peeps I will keep you posted what the fault was

Who is it mapped with ? Never gone into limp mode and it's been mapped for 2 years now.

You've probably just hit the rev limiter and the car has put itself into limp 'get you home' mode.

Like others have said, get it scanned for faults, but i'm sure everything is just fine! :-)

hi all thanks for your comments so thought I would give you an update.

my limp  mode appeared again over the holidays whilst coming down a slip road onto the motorway when I hilt 3,000rpm so deffo no rev limiter.

took t straight back to where I had the re-map. the guy put it straight on the computer and found out it was a fuel starvation issue.

further investigation found although I had a 3 year service plan with Skoda it appeared no filter had been changed in all this time.

car re-set and fuel filter changed. also advised I had recently filled up twice with a local asda garage. I wont be no more.

car is now back to running perfect

cheers
