possible to retrofit heated wing mirrors

Featured Replies

one of two things I miss from my previous car is the lack of heated wing mirrors on my SE.  The switch has the wee sign for the heated mirrors but obviously not the hardware for it given it wasn't speced with it.  anyone know if its a simple job to retrofit the hardware needed?

Surely if the switch is there then they are already fitted?

Lol. I'm sure he has? ????

They are a bit slower than my Kia to heat up I've noticed. So you might notice the delay?

My Sept 2015 SE has heated mirrors standard.

You do have to rotate the knob around to the heating symbol.

If they dont work I suggest you have a fault, have you checked the fuse?

Rotate the knob and press the rear demister button.

The heated mirrors are not connected to the heated rear screen.

Thank you. I have learned something  :)  I could have sworn my Mkii was connected to the rear heater so I just carried on the habit!

yeah, nothing happened unless it was really really slow and I didn't notice.  my vectra worked really quickly in comparison.

They were linked in the mkI, but not in the mkII or mkIII.

Interesting. So that means in the heat position, the wing mirrors are permanently on?

No, they time out after a while. I think it's about 10 mins. IIRC you can change the time with vcds.

I did wonder if they timed out, would be nice to have some sort of indicator to show this.

It would be handy, maybe have the light change colour on the switch. I don't think it would be possible without much faff unfortunately.

Yes, on my last car (citroen) it had a led on the button that came on when they were active just like you have on the rear window heater button.
