Help needed in raising the front end

Featured Replies

Guys

Current fitting (well trying) to fit my front coilovers to my Octy Vrs + front / rear wishbone arm (Front) bushes and anti roll bar bushes all Powerflex, new grooved and cross drilled front disc's, bottom ball joints etc.

The issues I'm having are:

1. Finding somewhere suitable to place my trolly jack underneath the car to jack up the whole front end so I can put my axle stands underneath the OEM jacking points.

If this is not possible the other option

2. Jack up using OEM jacking points - lifting one side at a time then finding somewhere suitable to place the axle stands.

How have other Octy owners fitted their coilover without the same issues that I am for seeing or did they send their cars to a garage.

Help would be gratefully received

Cheers

Paul

Jack it up using the sill jack points, put an axle stand in the normal location - I think it's generally the rear front wishbone mount that's typically used.

Yes, as langers2k reply. Do one corner at a time and place jack stands.

Wishbone points are available front and rear.  It can be easier to position with the front engine under tray removed.  The only slight difficulty I find is when using a trolley jack you tend to want to use the same point as you want to use for the stands,  so you really need to find a way to use the trolley on the factory sill points without damaging.

A chunky length of wood like 3" or 4" thick can be useful to disperse the vehicle weight and the the trolley cup pressure.

The only issue I have is that where the front axle stands have been placed in the picture is a component that I have to remove. I have purchased new one and the poly bushes are fitted. Any more thoughts

Jack on the wishbone mount put your axle stand on the jacking point one side at a time just check how deep the axle stand cup is so as not to damage the body if doing just one side at a time. Might need a couple of goes jacking one side at a time to get it high enough. Or if you have a large jack just use the subframe in the middle lift the whole front end up.

thanks for the above - I did consider using the cross member but whether its strong enough entered my head.

The subframe is strong enough to jack the front end up if you can get a trolley jack in

I drive my car onto some bricks or 100mm timber blocks.  That gives it the height to get the trolley jack under the X-Member.  Then the axle stands go under the jack points on the sills.
