Is My Dipstick Assembled Correctly?

Featured Replies

The yellow plastic loop is to the left of the filler cap. No room for it to be fitted the other way.

When I pull the dipstick out, the oil level scale is facing away from me. I then have to spin the dipstick around by 180 degrees on the long axis- sometimes splashing the oil off the vital indication part of the dipstick..

Is this the normal procedure or is my dipstick defective ?

1.4 TSi?

Is the same on my 1.2, they are the same engine just lower capacity on mine.

And it wont.go in the other way also, strange design.

Thanks. I'll just have to peer over the top rather than doing the tedious messy spin.

I have a 1.4 TSI and have the exact same "problem". Very weird design.

Another not so clever thing is the washer bottle is obstructed by the bonnet catch.   :wall:

Simply not clever

That does my head in. I can't believe that at no point someone at Skoda said "Wait. This is a bit awkward isn't it? Let's just shift the strut to the ther side."

Unless they said, " Wait, that's to easy, lets put the strut here, that will pi$$ them off "

That granted some swearing the first time I tried to refill the washer fluid out in the cold, but it also sorted my decision about fitting the hood struts, which I had in my previous car...

Strongly recommend that upgrade - sorry for the off-topic.

Since the first time I had to top it up and lost a load of washer fluid into the engine bay I've kept a sturdy 500ml bottle with the base cut off next to my spare fluid in the boot.
