Hi all - moving house in 5 weeks time to somewhere 5 miles out of town. Been on the lookout for a little runaround for a second car and tracked one down locally tonight. It's a 2008 Fabia 1.4TDi Greenline with 92k miles, one owner but well used.

I'm interested to know if there's anything in particular which I should be looking out for tomorrow? I've had Octavias over the years and currently run a Superb, but know very little of Fabias unfortunately! Any help much appreciated :)

 Check that it has good service history, this model keeps popping up on Auto Trader/Ebay as non runners with what appear to be oil pump problems. It may just be that I notice them more as we run one, but suggest searching on this forum and also googling. Does not appear to apply to the "normal" 3 cylinder versions - 1, 2 and 3 models - around this time. Could be how they are driven as higher gearing than std 1.4's could result in lower revs causing torsional shock through oil pump chain.

I hope someone can confirm this, but I seem to remember the Greenline has a DPF.

 There is indeed a DPF on the 1.4 Greenline - I have had to replace the DPF differential pressure switch on ours, there being one made in USA? and one made in Malaysia. A while back and cannot remember what issues it caused.

Went to see the car and made an offer which was accepted, subject to it passing a new MOT without any problems. Does indeed have a DPF. Needs a bit of a tidy up here and there but should come up well enough. It's black & I always said I wouldn't have another, but it's only a second car :)

First job would be to get cambelt and water pump done if anyone knows best place to source these from? And if the headlights are as bad as I hear, then bulb recommendations would be helpful! Many thanks.
