Heated mirrors useless?

Featured Replies

Hiya,

Now the icy weather has begun, has anyone used their heated wing mirrors?

I can hear a relay switching when I turn the mirror knob thing. But can't tell if my heated wing mirrors do anything.

Should the glass feel warm to the touch? Do they take forever to de-mist/ice?

Thanks if you can help me find put if mine are broken.

mine certainly get hot

Mine are fine had loads of water on them this morning and they soon cleared up

Mine work fine

I don't want to teach you how to suck eggs, but they only work if the heated rear window is on at same time.

Easy mistake to make

Umm; is that true? Certainly isn't for other cars in the VW group as far as I know.

I tend to agree with you there, my main use for heated mirrors is when driving the cars after they have been in the garage overnight and the temperature has then increased a lot in the early morning, so water vapour condenses on the mirror surfaces and all other glass areas, the rear screen only needs a single wipe of the wipers to clear it is heated rear window is rarely on when I need the mirrors cleared.

Well it seems to be the case with my Fabia

I don't have a Fabia, so I'm not going to sit here and say you're wrong. I find that odd though.

Seems to differ, mine works just fine without engaging the rear window heating.

Hi, in the Fabia I have they are independent of the rear window heater.

By the way, this thread was a duplicate as I made a small edit but couldn't delete it.

I fixed the issue by seeing I'd inadvertently put a fuse back in the wrong position (fair few weeks ago). Position 51 is for the heated mirrors.

But I didn't even know I had heated mirrors until October; and only had cause to try and use them in the last month or two.
