power out puts............

Featured Replies

got my fabia mapped yesterday it has a front mount intercooler ,exhaust sorted and turbo dynamics 446 turbo.he could only get 190 bhp with the mods is this about right???

Hard to say; what make of RR, what gear did he take readings in, what were the pressure, temperature and relative humidity in the dyno cell, did the temperature rise significantly during the run?

Cant answer any of this to be honest

It's about right, none of the other mods make any difference to headline power, try looking at the torque curve, should be a lot more butch now. Diesels don't rev so torque is a MUCH more useful measure of performance.

I wasn't sure that you would know, other than the make of dyno and gear the figures were taken in. It does give an idea just how complex a subject dyno testing is though.

thanks for the above answers chaps

Is that fly or wheel bhp? Have you got a picture of the graph?

Or was your clutch starting to slip and therefore the mapper had to cap it?

is it likely to start slipping at 190 ish on standard clutch?does this mean it will give up in the near future or does it depend on driving??

The standard clutch is normally only good for 300ftlb of torque. If you haven't asked for a torque friendly map then I'd guess with 190bhp you'll properly be in the region of 320+ or so.

Im on the limit then hopefully clutch will last ok.I wont be driving it to hard anyway

Won't really need to be driven all that "hard" to break it if driven incorrectly with more torque than the clutch was designed to take.

That said, I've had my upgraded turbo on for the last 15k and guess to be about the same power and torque as you and have been ok as I don't labour her all that much.

Edit; although my clutch was only 20k old when I put the new turbo on. Has slipped a couple of times these last few months, but driven with a bit of thought and it can easily be avoided.

Well, that's a little, maybe 2 or 3%, pessimistic in its wheels to flywheel conversion figure, so you've got maybe 5bhp (and equivalent torque) more than the dyno states. This is even worse news for your clutch, particularly since avoiding driving a diesel at or through the 1700 to 2000 rpm band is tricky to impossible!

I will be happy with a few thousand mile out of clutch .then get a nice upgraded one
