Hi all,

 

I need some help - on my Fabia I haven't got any airbags and the air bag control module has been removed. 

 

On a VCDS scan I have the following;

 

18017 - Crash Shut-Down Activated

P1609 - 35-00

 

What do I need / Who can I speak to to be able to disable/remove the control module so the car knows it doesn't have any airbags?

 

**I know you can disable individual air bags, but I need to disable the control module**

What module are those faults under? Can't you just remove airbag from the gateway to start.

Doing some more research and with the help of others I've actually figured out there's no issues with the missing airbag controller. The errors are showing up under 01 engine so should clear. The idea seems to be that it is clearing but then coming straight back - a short or something somewhere. Working my way round everything at the moment.

You should have asked me mate, it's cause the ecu was from a crashed Ibiza hence the crash shutdown code, was told by the mapper this wouldn't cause any problems, just will always have that fault code, the airbags are coded out via canbus so as far as the car was aware it has no airbags, hence no airbag light too on startup, and the ability to lose the airbag control unit completely too, if you wish to refit you need to plug in the airbag ecu then Refresh the canbus gateway with appropriate coding, the light will then come back on dash, then you can turn off all the airbags it doesn't have, it will just flash 10 times when ignition is turned on then go off as normal
