Another shocker? really?

Featured Replies

So it seems my car needs another OSF shocker.

Since fitting the H&R springs it's gone through two. One genuine and a good aftermarket.

So now what to do? Well I have a set of standard springs coming and a new shocker.

Let's see what happens this time.

When the first OEM Damper went was it a Pair of Aftermarket ones you fitted?

What were they and are they not under Warranty still?

Bit complicated with the genuine warranty.

I separated from the ex and moved so it was impractical to take back to the place that did it.

Anyway I had a pair of genuine fitted initially and the left is still ok.

The aftermarket was a quick fix as I needed the car.

Begs the question why it's taken two out in less than 2 months

Sorry to add...warranty on the aftermarket is fine. I'm not paying for another

To be fair it's not the £ it's the why the hell has it done that

Usually it is the nearside damper that has 'misting' and the driver side spring that breaks, i have broken 2.

I would never fit a single spring or a single damper and leave them like that.

(I might if it was a quick job to be mobile but only for a day or 2 then a matched pair would be on.)

So how low springs are fitted, are they vRS hatch ones,  correct,

and how many miles has your car done on the original dampers?

Proper springs fitted as in VRS H&R ones. (40mm drop)

Not owned the car from new so not sure what the original shockers had done but I fitted genuine ones at around 51-52k then the right hand went after about 2 months then on 54k at the very most.

Like I say had to get a quick fix done so had a good aftermarket fitted and that's lasted around 5-6k miles at the very most

When I get these standard springs fitted I'm getting a new pair of genuine shockers fitted at the same time.

I'll get it all aligned too and I'm sure it need a pair of tyres too as the inners are worn.

It's more annoying as it doesn't seem to like OSF shockers for some reason!
