1.4tdi egr

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Was a little suspicious my EGR was getting blocked up. (Replaced a hose 6 months ago and tried to clean without removing it) and this is what it looks like now... is this normal build up and nothing to worry about or do I need to take it off and clean it out properly ?

It's a 57reg 1.4tdi 75k miles on the clock

I had a bit of a drop in mpg recently and I'm checking out the MAF and this, but it could be down to the snow tires I had fitted.

Thanks,

Ben

Anyone?

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi Ben, I'm just starting to tinker with the egr in my wife's 59 plate 1.4tdi but haven't got very far yet. Doing it without any kind of manual and Youtube isn't terribly helpful unless you have a VW. I would say though that in my experience it's always better to do a proper job of cleaning up something like your photos show, even if it means the extra effort of removing the part. Just my view. I'll let you know how I get on in due course ......
