Surely it's better spent on driver education either by the IAM or ROSPA ?

or funding a pro-active police traffic unit. Cameras are a cash-cow. Speed.......... camera........braaaaaaaake..........passed... speed.............camera........braaaaaake...........

The article states that they are installing average speed cameras.

have you never followed people on stretches of motorway with average speed cameras? That's what they do.

I have seen a very small percentage of drivers do this, but not that many. Once they get a speeding ticket or two drop on the mat the penny will drop.

It only takes a small percentage on a motorway or the odd one on an A road  and you get the 'accordian effect'. It only takes one to brake sharply and the one behind (automatically at fault) to hit the car in front.

If you're travelling at 50 in a 50 average speed zone on the motorway any car exceeding the speed limit will be further away from you or moved to the next lane when they brake.
