What oil ?

Featured Replies

Hello is Tesco own brand oil ok for my mk2 fabia Vrs or should I be using a branded product sorry if this is a constant thread

Welcome.

Perfectly OK if to VW502 00 Spec and you are doing fixed servicing.

Can i suggest though that you go to ASDA and buy the 5w 40 to VW 502 00 that they sell. It might even be reduced in price just now.

(The Variable Servicing Oil and what Dealers use is 5w 30 to VW504 00,  best not use that in a Twincharger,  if you have 5w 30 in now stick with it until you do an oil and filter change.)

I'd just add to make sure you buy a fully synthetic oil meeting the standard you require and not a semi-synthetic oil that meets the standard. It's easy to pick up the wrong one. The semi doesn't stay in standard very long compared to a fully synthetic oil.

Get yourself a Costco membership card. Mobil1 and Castrol Edge deals are on from time to time.

I've got a Costco card, but find it a lot cheaper to buy 10LTR (covers two cars +) Mobil 1 from Opie oils with free postage, okay I needed to add in a wheel brush to bring the total up after using this site (or any other) discount code!

If using a discount to get good Branded Oils.  please think before buying 5W 30 Full Synthetic Long Life oil to VW 504 00 & instead what is good for a twincharger

& buy 5w 40 Full Synthetic to VW 502 00 for Fixed Servicing.

Give long life oil a miss, and go 5w 40 rather than 5w 30.   Just my opinion obviously from trial and error and helping sort out other Oil Users.

Also put Oil in the New Filter before fitting.

(I am not into the OEM VW/Audi Silver Filters, but then that is up to owners what they fit.)

Good advise from Offski in my opinion for Twin Chargers.
