AGV helmets

Featured Replies

I have a plain white K3sv,

Overall i like it altho the sunvisor is next to useless, but i do wear glasses so not sure if that has some bearing on it,

As Mick said fit is most important then look at the materials and features etc to what your budget will fit.

Just my opinion:

1/. Check it has decent safety scores, with SHARP, DoT, Snell, ACU/ECE and as many other sources as you can.

2/. Check the fit.

3/. Check the comfort.

4/. Check the features match your requirements - For example, I wear glasses for driving so insist on a sun visor... I also like to pretend I'm Airwolf, but that's a secondary concern! :D

If the lid satisfies all the above, in that order, find a colour you like and go ride.... oh, I suppose you'd better pay for it before leaving the shop, too! :D

As has been previously said, fit is the most important, the interior padding will give however too tight against your forehead will give you headache, I wouldn't personally buy a helmet on-line unless you are replacing like for like and you are sure that the original was the correct size.

Don't be tempted to buy something that is too big or your head will rattle around in it and god forbid if you had an accident it will not be able to do the job it was designed to do.

If you wear glasses or sunglasses take them with you and make sure that you can put them on and take them off through the visor opening and that features such as internal sun visors work when you are wearing them.

Lastly and most importantly take your time when trying helmets on to make sure that you get the correct fit.

One of the annoying things with a poor fitting helmet is the increased wind noise and vibrations if not tight enough. I had this with an Arai helmet that I had my eye for a while, wearing it was tiring as it was tight on the cheeks but slightly lose on the forehead so ended up selling it at a loss. Years later I know wear an Arai which is the best fit I've had. Not sure if Arai have changed the shape of their helmets or it's my head.

The AGV K5 the OP has enquired about is a sports helmet which are designed for more wind hit the top of the head and forehead as per the position for a aggressive sports bike riding. If you don't ride in that position you will find more buffeting and wind noise with that style of helmet and would be better looking at a touring helmet.
