Stated in brochure:

"....including gear paddles for DSG models"

Thanks for that I wish such a document existed for the Irish sportline (what is factory fit)... I was under the impression that the Sportline came with the Columbus navigation from looking at the UK brochure however I was told upon ordering the Irish Sportline does not come with any navigation system as standard and to upgrade to the Columbus is €1600 !! I have begrudgingly specced the Amundsen navigation for €450 which I am sure is fine and to be fair I will probably use Android Auto more than the navigation built into the Amundsen but out of principal I hate seeing major dependencies like the above... it's not as if they specced the Irish Sportline with another option as standard such as SLA or a sunroof...

Super-dee-dooper Gizmo ;-)

OK so the spec we ordered last week is as follows:

Superb Sportline 2.0 TSI 280bhp 4x4 DSG:

- Black Magic Pearlescent

- Sunroof

- 19" Vega Alloys

- Retrofit alarm (still clarifying with the dealer alarm pricing)

- Front Assist / ACC up to 160km/h

- Smart Light Assist with BSD and Lane Assist

- Wi-fi

- Travel assist

- Canton sound upgrade

- Amundsen Navigation

- Heated windscreen washers

- Progressive steering

- Electrically operated boot

- Rear side airbags

Happy with the spec and deal offered... taking delivery end of March (can't wait) :) I think this will be the 1st 280 saloon sold in Ireland!

OK good news the dealer and I came to an agreement on the factory fitted alarm so I am much happier :)

Wow! Buying a car in Ireland is fraught with many many dangers.

I can imagine that dealers just have a huge globe with all the possible options on it and they just spin it/stop it and where their finger is pointing is the spec you get.

To be fair overall I got a very good deal on the 280 engine so I am happy with the net result. I approached 4 dealers 3 of which were coming up with similar offers but another dealer just pulled out all the stops and was just hungrier for the business than the rest. This is the first time purchasing a brand new car and I was a little disappointed by the experience until I approached the last dealer.

I am genuinely stunned that a brand new performance model with a big engine costing what, 40,000 Euros, doesn't come with an alarm. The last car I bought without an alarm was a Seat Ibiza in 1998.... Crazy spec differences. Nav too, that's crackers.
