Creaking / Clunky / Banging noise from passenger front

Featured Replies

I've noticed since driving my Monte Carlo when I'm on and off the throttle and sometimes changing gear I sometimes get quite a loud thud from the passenger side front. It sounds quite harsh.

I've removed the dogbone mount and inspected it and looks fine. I tried to get movement in the gearbox mount but access is limited so couldn't check much but "seemed fine"

Has anyone els had similar problems?

Car is a 2012 Monte Carlo, 1.6 TDI but remapped to 130bhp, 50,000 miles. Same mount for all the engines and gearbox options I think.

Don't talk to me about knocking mate haha.

To be fair I'm having my mounts looked at this weekend as I'm sure it's not the shocker as it doesn't knock when you go over bumps and pot holes but does when you set off.

:D sorry it's a touchy subject.

I think I'll just replace mine since they are cheap enough.

By the time I remove the airbox, battery, battery tray and support the engine to remove / inspect the gearbox mount I think I'd rather just change it at the same time.

Just checking as I didn't think it's a common fault and wouldn't expect this fault at 50,000 miles when my 60,000 Elegance is wisper quiet.

I'm only the second owner of the monty but it could have lived on a drag strip I suppose :S

Orderd a replacement mount today so will find out when it turns up.

Cool. I'm solely tempted to replace mine. It's had too mounts done and that so I really need to get it sorted.

Ps. Springs are here

Luckily they are easily available since it's the same mount used on quite a few cars all with different engines and gearbox setups, the top mount seems the same.

And happy days, didn't take long :)
