Octavia speaker upgrades

Featured Replies

Hi all, i've recently blown the speakers up in the Octy, I like music and was probably a little loud... The specs are:

Octavia MK2 11 Plate facelift

Fitted a Kenwood DNX521DAB

Was wondering if there are up gradable speakers that are an easy fit, or a direct fit that anyone has had any experience or recommendations?

If there isn't a direct fit option then what speakers are recommended by any of you? I'll be looking to replace all speakers and tweeters while on the job, i'm an electrician so fairly handy and not afraid to meddle.

Thanks in advance.

Most companies do direct fit speakers. I would contact a car audio dealer and speak to them about what you need and they should be able to tailor a package for you. Also they might install them for a small fee and save you the hassle of taking the door cards off etc.

On the mk5 golfs you used to be able to pick up the Dynaudio speaker components as a package from resellers and they were a lot better than the standard fitment. It sounds like nothing is available like that for Mk2 Octavias, assume this means there was no premium speaker package?

Speak to gavin at subtronix car audio in sutton in Ashfield. he built the mdf mounts for mine when I upgraded the front and rears to 6.5" components.

The oem mids are held in using rivets so you will need to get the drill out.

You will need to build mdf mounts so the midrange has a solid base.

Wiring wise the oem speakers have a plug but you might be able to bodge some small spade connectors on it to allow connection to aftermarket midrange. The same goes for the oem tweeters too.

You will need to look at speakers designed with headunit power (ie about 7w per channel) in mind. So sensitivity is your friend here.

Have a chat with Gavin at www.audioboffins.com. They are based in peterborough and come very highly recomended, I myself just bought a new 4 Digital Designs 4 channel amp from him.

Can you access Line level output for an amplifier on a bolero or do you have to use speaker level output to drive an amplifier?
