2006 petrol vrs heater only blows hot

Featured Replies

Hi

I was travelling home today i had the heat on it was a 100 mile trip so the car was fully warmed up. After a while i noticed that the cabin was getting warmer and warmer.

The heater no matter what setting it was on, it only blew hot air. The engine temp gauge stayed at its normal temp.

The aircon made no difference the heating would not blow cold air.

I've not had any problems recently with the heating i recently changed the pollen filter as well - about 2k ago.

Thanks

If there are any flap motors involved, I'd think that the temperature one has become faulty - try demanding the extremes a few times, ie COLD>HOT>COLD>HOT>COLD etc etc - if that cleans up the positional pot track up a bit, it should sort things for a few days/weeks.

If that does not sort it will it be an expensive fix

Depends on what's wrong.Try a reset: hold the auto button and press the cab blow direction keys one at a time, one of them on the right hand, can't remember which will make the green temp screens look odd and you'll hear it all clicking around as it goes through the motions.

I had another 100 mile plus trip yesterday.

It seemed ok to start with then it started heating up again.

I tried moving the temp control several times from hot to cold but this did not change anything.

The heater was always putting out hot air.

Even when i turned the fan off the too vents pointing towards the door were still pushing out hot air.

I closed the vent and the plastic was really hot to the touch.

The engine temp remained constant as per normal.

The aircon and the heater control had no effect over the temp.

Sounds like you either have a faulty heater flap motor or a faulty temp sensor. It might be worth getting it scanned for fault codes and also to see what the flap motor is doing.

Where is that motor situated?

Where is that motor situated?

Sorry I don't know but I imagine it will be somewhere buried behind the dashboard. I don't envy you trying to get access to it! Hopefully someone with practical experience will be along shortly to steer you to the right place.

Can anyone help with how to solve the problem.
