My father needs a new headlight for his 07 plate elegance trim superb.

 

It would seem like eBay is the best place to get one, unless anyone knows somewhere better, but I need to ensure I get the correct type.

 

Can someone tell me what lights were standard, if there were options and if so how can I identify what type?

The original one should have the part number stamped on it somewhere.

Does the car have "regular" halogen bulbs (in which case it would not have headlight washers, but just the chrome cover on the bottom edge of the outer lens) or High intensity xenon bulbs (in which case it would have headlight washers at the bottom edge of the outer lens)?

It will have Xenons with self levelling and headlight washers being an elegance, tough to find and not cheap, expect around 200 quid if you find one, I searched and the only one that matched was in Germany and maybe LHD, you need self levelling, headlight washers and equipped with fog light.

I am pretty sure in the UK if they are Xenon they will have fogs, washers and levelling motors (the later two are obligatory for Xenons).

There are a few xenons on ebay at the moment.  Why does he need a whole headlight - accident damage or something not working?  There is a ballast which is separately replaceable to fix issues with the Xenon not firing up.
