Epson Eco Tank Printer

Featured Replies

Has anyone got one of these e.g Epson et2550, what are your opinion of them. Looking to get one to save on ink costs.

Have had a few epsons over the years.

always found they use alot more ink than you reckon... and the dirtbags slowly increase the cost of refills until they become more expensive than printer.

eg - a 4 pack full set was 29.99, 9.99/cartridge. for last one i had (tiger cartridges) when i bought it. By the time i chucked it they 17.99 each or a multipack for about 50..

I dunno anything about the one you mentioned though, tbf the print quality from epson is brilliant

Recently bought a Canon MX 535 from PC World. Down to £50 from £100 to replace our other ageing Canon MP210 as we needed a wireless printer.

The MX 535 is a print/scan/copy/fax jobby. Print quality is very good (as was the previous Canon).  They do normal or 'XL' cartridges.

Only had it a couple of weeks so still seeing what the print run/ cartridge is like but so far so good.

Set up in no time, Air Print from my work phone worked straight away and a free Canon app from Play had it printing wirelessly from my S6

If you do a lot of printing you could look into one that's compatible with a continuous ink system.

I will be a very light user. So thought these ink tanks might last ages. Also printing from i pad so airprinter needed.

If you only print occasionally then you might want to think about a cheap mono laser printer. They don't gunk up if they sit unused like inkjets do.

Thanks Aspman, have looked into Lasers, don't seem to be any reasonably priced AirPrint lasers about.

Got there before me on the gunking.. becomes very expensive if youve to do a printhead cleaning everytime you want to print a boarding pass..

I would probably print at least perhaps, just one page every week to stop it gunking up.

Our wired Pixma MP210 would go a couple of months without being used and was always fine when SWMBO came to print a boarding pass. :D

tbf, our pixma mg-thingymebobby (cba walking across the room to check the number) is perfectly fine with days/weeks between uses too. The last epson was daily or forget it..

I got a very nice Ricoh Laser to replace my old Apple. Problem is that like Inkjets , the printer comes with a small (700 page) cartridge at £26 , and a refill cost about £43 - so I can see a lot of cartridgeless printers on the market soon.

As for Ink for inkjets- plenty of places with either refillable cartridges/ replacement ones around .( Try https://premium-inks.com/pages/refill-man-refillable-compatible-printer-cartridges-dye-pigment-ink-refill-kits) - no connection, except as a happy customer of an ex techie guy.
