Will Wheels Fit?

Featured Replies

Just been offered a set of brand new A8 alloys with new tyres for an amazing price. They are 5x112, 17x7.5 and have offset of 26.

Please tell me these will fit my scout....

ET26 will be very tight, do you have an extra 1” clearance from the tyres outside sidewall to the wheel arch?

They will also need spigot rings to reduce the centreboard down from 66.6mm to 57.1mm.

Haha nice one Rob :D

I was wondering though - aren't 17 x 7.5 very small for an A8? :wonder:

Someone has to say the obvious: a 26 ET os waaaaay too low for the Skoda.

Around 35 is pretty much the lowest you should go without the wheels sticking out of the fenders.

You should walk away from those wheels - they won't fit.

What size tyres are currently fitted?

I'm away from car right now but if memory serves they are 225/50/17

I'm aware that the 235/60's will raise the gearing slightly but that's nothing major.

Thats actually a 57mm smaller diameter than the Audi tyres, which is quite a lot, that coupled with the increased offset I would personally not even entertain it.

looking at will they fit.com. the wheel will poke out 25mm more.

the speedo will be out almost 3% which not ideal.

235 /60 tyre is like 10% out!

Right. I have a set of these on the way. The way I look at it is even the 4 new tyres are worth more than the £300 asking so worth trying...

The rears will DEFINATELY fit. The track on the rear of the scout is really quite narrow as standard.

The problem is the fronts. They are going to be tight. HOWEVER I have just found this place. http://www.tttoolsltd.co.uk/services/ Who claim to be able to reduce the offset by up to 5mm.

When the new wheels/tyres arrive next week I will fit them up and see. If the fronts foul, I will try narrower front tyres. If that doesn't work I maybe give that company a call.

Update for anyone interested..

So as suspeceted offering them up with the 235/60/17's proved comical. Wouldn't even fit into the arches.

However once the original 225/50/17's were swapped on there were no issues at all! Looks waaaaaaay better and no foulage at all. Very pleased.

So big raspberries to those that said et26's wil never fit. In fairness to them though I think what is saving me is the extra 25mm ride height of the scout...

I think those work for the scout, where the arches are apparently wider and even then, that front wheel seems to stick quite a bit out - it doesn't scrap on full lock?

Nope. No scraping at all. Had a 20 mile drive back from tyre fitters through towns and roundabouts listening carefully for fouling but nothing.

Maybe if I go crazy quick round a roundabout, or braking heavily with some lock on it might foul but I never drive like that - the scouts not built for that kind of driving lol

looks good :)

low offsets suit that well with the ride height and arch extensions.

...not really, yes, but it kinda crossed my mind :)

actually, I have the impression I have seen older model Scouts on the road setup with very wide wheels that were sticking out a LOT. Or was it Audi AllRoads?
