Crank sensor

Featured Replies

Hi peeps my tfsi has thrown up the Crank sensor error and has begun to do the following.

Extremely lumpy idle

When you try to rev it won't go above 2krpm and sounds like it's running on 3

Throttle response is sketchy

Sounds really raspy almost like exhaust blow.

Is that all from the crank sensor or has something else decided to fale.

I have bought the crank sensor but I'm struggling to find it on the engine after a quick look this evening so any help pointing me in the right direction would help.

Thanks

Have a look at this page from the VW TSI engine blurb.

Thanks for that where abouts is the though kinda hard to tell from pic.

Back of the engine and between the block & supercharger. Probably not the easiest place to access though others may advise otherwise?

Ah amazing such an awkward place awesome lol.

There's a solonoid valve just behind the coil packs which also can cause those errors your referring too

Best have a Trained Technician check it out.

(1.4 TSI 132kw Twincharger,  Audi call theirs the 1.4 TFSI 136kw 185ps Twincharger.)

?

What vRS do you have, CAVE engine or CTHE?

I've no idea which engine it is how do you tell.

Sticker at bottom of Drivers Door B Pillar.

CAVE May 2010-late summer 2012.

CTHE from First Registered 2012 Sept/Oct time in UK, but some CAVE sitting around could have been first registered after that so you need to check VIN plate & Plate on B Pillar.

(then some have replaced engines, so anything is possible.)

did you use vagcom to scan the fault code or an OBD scanner?

It's cave engine.

Used vague Com to scan it.

Have you got a save of the fault code and fault description mate

  • Author

It bought up the following though

Cranfield sensor faulty

Lambda faulty

Miss fire 1

Miss fire 4

Inlet leak

Vacuum leak
