Boot light wiring disconnected

Featured Replies

The boot light on my 1.2 TSI Estate is disconnected and I can't find or reach the wire through the hole when I remove the light. So I think I need to remove the plastic panel but I can't see how that is done. Can anyone advise me please?

Mine also came off the connection spade and dropped behind the panel, it's a tricky job taking the rear panel out but I did get at the wiring by removing the rubber seal on the one side that seals rear hatch I then removed the centre panel trim where boot catch is located removed rear light cluster plastic screw  this then  gives you enough room to then pull out (bend panel) enough to get your arm in to grab the wires, I found it an advantage to drop a piece of cord down through the boot light hole before you start with a slip knot and when you get the wires loop  the cord to the wires and pull them back through the hole

If you want to take the whole panel out it will take a few hours as you need to remove rear seat on that side take out small vent/speaker  panel by rear quarter glass remove seat belt anchor and then remove loads of screws which I had to do when later my rear lighter socket broke apart and kept shorting my side lights out so try your hardest to grab the wires before try for the whole panel it's a real pain in the neck

Thank you.   I'll have a look at the way you did it. I was going to ask for it to be done at the next service but it sounds like a big labour charge. If I can't do it your way I'll live without it. From memory on my Roomster, I don't think it's very bright anyway.

You could try using one of those small USB cameras from eBay, Amazon etc. that connect to your phone or laptop to look onto the void  and a three jaw grabber to get the connector.

Hi. Did you ever solve this issue? The wiring on my 1.2 HTP is also disconnected and I can't reach it.
