Heat problems

Featured Replies

Hey all, I'm having problems with my car not blowing out hot heat and when it does it's mild and that usually happens after an hour and a half of driving! To date I have spent 800 pound I've changed cambelt &water pump, electrical board pump flushed numerous times and changed the thermostat and also repaired a leak that was found by thermostat, has anyone had the same issues and can you pleas help lol, thanks

Mine was the same and combined with the condensation on cold mornings wasn't much fun. Diesel's take longer to warm up, one of the reasons they are not ideal for short journeys, but the Octavia seems worse than others. The same engine in other VW and Audi's pumps out more warmth sooner from the heater which some have stated as them having a separate element to warm the coolant going through the heater. I think it's a case of lump it or like it.

I've seen in another thread that the heater matrix could be blocked. Mine is variable and really only hears when it's on full. Could be the same issue.

the heater matrix needs flushing.

the thread I read said you can use an airline in reverse. Not sure if that would work but maybe a jet wash might also dislodge any crap blocking the pipes?

Have a read of this thread

Cward that wasn't what I wanted to hear but I think I may just have to get used to it, I have had the heater matrix flushed and that came back to be fine, another problem I'm having is that my temperature gauge goes from being bang in the middle to showing cold as soon as I get up to speed on the motorway can you guys shed any light on this

If you've come from a petrol to diesel than you are going to notice a big difference. I've driven diesels for long time and the Octavia has been the worst heater even compared to the Pug 405.

You have changed everything everything that could have been a problem, The blocked heater matrix mentioned above would have caused problems when refilling the coolant after flushing.

For my car i have a similar issue where my car will mostly blow cold air even the car is heated up.

I have located the issue to be a blown head gasket. I can find preasure building up in the system and the air probably moves in the heater matrix since it seems like a top point for these cars.

In the end all the air is going in the system and blocking the matrix.

Take your time to check for the preasure in system and for other things to check, like loosing coolant or oil, oil chaning color from black to grey (mayo like).

One more symptom for my car is that the temperature gauge is rising very fast, which is probably because of the air from cylinder is heating the gauge faster than normal.

has the head gasket resolved the situation? Am I right in saying that this cars heaters are nowhere near as good compared to any other vehicle
