Buying an Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

As title looking for a bit of advice on buying a diesel VRS around the 4k mark, seen a few and they all seem to have different specs, what is the best things to look for regarding higher spec models and do any of them suffer the dreaded hex key oil pump problems and which ones have DPF and don't, I have seen different audio equipment, dash displays, Xenons, wheels etc etc, basically what would be a top spec model?

Been in touch with a guy who has one fitted with a Nexus Sat Nav but he doesn't know if you can Bluetooth your phone to it but it has an Aux in for Ipod and I need both functions.

Also can't decide between estate or hatch, leaning towards hatch as I saw one and loved it yesterday and though I gotta get one, currently running a MK1 05 Superb Elegance 130TDI and love it but I need something more practical in the boot area but it has ignited a love of Skodas over VW and I love the toys hence looking for top spec.

I know my way round VW and specs but a bit lost here, would also like heated seats but this one I looked at doesn't have them.

Or does anyone have one they are selling?

Cheers, sorry for so many questions.

Avoid the pd vrs and go for cr ones as less likely to have dpf issues.

Or if you not bothered about power but want all the toys you may want to consider a L&K 2.0pd 140 as these don't have dpf fitted.

Cr probably out of my price range, I am looking for the power also as I want to remap it up to around 200bhp so it has to be the 170, what's up with the PD ones?

Pd doesn't pair up with dpf very well as it was a bit of an after thought and also Pd170 had injection recall which in some cases not done properly causing further issues.  Do a search on Pd170 to read about potential issues.

Thanks for the info, I will probably having the DPF ermm modified anyway at some point, good call on the injector recall. forgot about that will check it has been done.
