Skoda Stream MP3 radio reception

Featured Replies

I've had my 2007 Octy vRS for over two years now and I'm tired of not being able to get clear radio reception.  It might be good for a couple of miles but it always breaks up eventually.  Does anyone know why this is? Every other car I've owned I have been able to listen to the radio on a long journey without having to constantly hit the scan button.  I don't really want to replace the head unit but could try a new aerial.  Suggestions on solutions please.

Aerial base has an amplifier that's prone to failure. Replacement is about 30 quid I think. Do a search on here, there's a few threads. Certainly cured the poor reception on mine.

There's a service menu on the stream mp3 that can report the status of the amp if memory serves.

Same here on my 07 vrs , my am was not working so I got a new antena from main dealer around £25-£30

am now working fine .

And the same here, I replaced the antenna and base and now my radio works fine.

Replacing the antenna, is it an easy DIY job?

Took me about half an hour. Having a helper to hold the aerial as you do up the nut is a good plan. Hardest part is getting the rear headliner trim off. Take your time and it's a DIY job. The nut is awkward to get at but you can pull the headliner down enough to get a ratchet in. There's a thread or two detailing it all on here.
