Code for Android Mirrorlink

Featured Replies

Is there anywhere online you can purchase a code for this or does it have to be via the dealer?

Dealer only and some people mention that it is only possible if you specified it from factory, but I am not sure.

You're after Smartlink which is Apple carplay and Android auto and mirrorlink.

Its a delaer only job, approx £150 I last heard.

Thanks. Probably not worth it for £150 then.

I'd only get it as a cheap way to use the nav on my phone on the Bolero screen. But I dont need it now as I picked up the Kenwood Garmin Nav module for £120, so that gives me nav on the Bolero.

For music, is it really worth it, when you can connect your phone by bluetooth to stream songs, or just use a USB stick, aux socket or the SD card slot?

Exactly I have nav as standard and stream via bluetooth from spotify. Phone is in a cradle attached to windscreen.

I have it and i love gadgets but i used it once and haven't used it again. I really dont see the point when you have the vrs because it add nothing extra other than having a very unsightly lead plugged in.

I use Android Auto all the time.  I prefer Google Maps to the inbuilt nav, get on well with Google voice commands and it's got the entertainment apps I need in Google Play Music and Pocketcasts.  Shame it doesn't use the Maxidot display though.

I put my phone in front of the gear stick underneath the ventilation controls and plug it in with a very short USB cable. It's barely noticeable.

That's the natural place to put it.  Doesn't work with a 5.5 inch Moto Z though.  I've got mine stuffed in the armrest.  Solution is either to get a wee Sony Compact phone from work or one of the new bigger phone holders for the cup holders.  Curse these giant phones!

Where did you pick up your Kenwood unit?  My only regret is not getting Sat Nav on my unit.  Dealer said £1100 for Kenwood and £1400 for Columbus

That was some leftover stock that some specific shop wanted to shift.

That price and promotion are long gone...

My Samsung is 5 3/4 inch in length and it sits nicely on the sliding lid of the cubby (not in, it's too big for that) in front of the gear stick. The lip of the lid holds the phone in place perfectly and a nice short lead slots into the usb input.
