Im new...hi.. Oil is confusing and i did read some threads...will my car be ok with 505 oil or should i use 507...i have been told there is no dpf on my car...

Either is fine.

 

507 is long life oil for variable so if you're on variable then you must use that. If you're on fixed then either is fine.

 

I always used 507 on my 1.9. Wasn't any more expensive from what I remember.

I have just bought the car and will be doing 8k changes which oil do people recommend

Also, don't forget about the gearbox oil and filter change every 40k miles.

Yes its just been done, was overdue, gearbox is sweet, i only found out about the 40 k box change by accident, 90 quid for the oil though....the car dealer got hit for that one pmsl

Yes that's why I mentioned it as it's very easy/common to overlook it. Even some main dealers forget about it!

 

And yes... oil is silly expensive unfortunately.

Asda also do their own brand 5w 40 that meets 505.01 spec for £20 /5 litres
