quick question - I have been perusing the site since joining the other day. I note that people refere to the octavia vRS as having 17" alloys. Mine is fitted with 16" alloys and 205/55/R16 tyres. Are these not standard spec ? The car is an 01 51 vRS hatchback and the only previous owner was a lease company.

In Ireland the originals came with 16's as standard and 17's as an option. 17's then became standard.

some of the first had 16"s in uk but this was soon altered

I guess mine was one of the first, it was registered on 14/09/2001.

I once had a 51 plate occty vRS, it to was on 16" rubber...

If your Occy is fitted with 16" you will not have the two boot rear strut braces, all the Occy's fitted with 17"s have these two annoying strut braces fitted in the boot. This is to strengthen/stiffen the rear for better and safer handling ( this was told to me by the dealer Ashmore Green).

Weird, as the one im buying has 16" alloys and the boot struts???? its an 02 plate?

mine has the boot braces too !!

Boot braces? I've got them too... thought they were to stop heavy items in the boot from smashing through the rear seats in the event of an accident? (I always drive around with the rear seat beats done up anyway!)

Anyway.. they cost

Mines an 02 plate hatch. Its on 16"'s and has the boot struts as well.
