Radio volume on/off

Featured Replies

I know you can mute the radio by pressing the steering column button in but I thought that you could raise the volume by turning the main knob on the unit without pressing the steering column button.

This doesn't work on my radio  now and I'm beginning to think I was imagining it.

Can you take the mute off by turning the main knob?

The radio started working again today and yes you can override the steering wheel mute by turning the main unit volume control.

Three is definitely something wrong though as it stopped responding again today and then woke up again later!

Looks like it's going to be difficult to sort out if it's working when the garage get to look at it.

I tried this on mine this morning..

The mute button on the steering wheel can mute the volume and un-mute returning the volume to the previous state.

If you mute, and then use the volume knurl wheel on the steering wheel and rotate UP, mute is deactivated and the volume starts at 0% again and you have to scroll up to the desired volume.   Is is the same if the radio is muted and you use the volume knob on the main infotainment system, it starts at 0% volume.

My big problem with the radio is turning it off without turning the infotainment centre off as well. Suppose I have the satnav on and the radio on with TP activated but then I want to turn the radio off and leave TP active and continue to use the SatNav. If I silence the radio by pushing the mute button, TP is also muted. Yes you can turn down the volume to nearly zero but that takes time and is a nuisance method. I have found that changing the audio source to Aux silences the radio and leaves TP active as well as the SatNav working but surely there must be an easier way?

I would not normally reply to my own posting but having noted that someone liked the posting but did not tell me how to solve the problem, I thought that maybe this will prompt a reply from someone. I have read every part of all of the manuals I can find online and have not found a solution - I realise that they are not written in the clearest english and so I may have missed the point but does anyone know how to get around this peculiar problem?

Nope, I don't believe there is an easier way.

On my car, if I mute the radio by pressing the button on the steering wheel, the radio is silenced but the TP function still works.  I still get the Traffic announcements as and when they come in. Can become a bit disconcerting as you are in silence for a while and all of a sudden you get it coming through the radio.
