To the Bridge.

Featured Replies

My little personal test for my car. ;)

From stationary: "there" To "The Bridge"

Measure terminal speed as you go under. Not measured the distance yet, but reckon it to be 1/3 of a mile, maybe a smidge under. My current terminal speed: 110mph.

God I love owning a bit of dual carriageway for this purpose. Anyone else own similar bits for a little of bit of car testing? I believe it to be an essential part of car owning life. If ever I get 105, I know something's up with the car. ;)

Yes, I've have both... "To the Dip" and the "To the Tree" tests with mine! :D

They've been in place for all my cars, so they are good benchmarks, to compare previous cars!

Ah well - I've only ever done furby pre makeover. And only got 90mph(ish) with 150bhp. The extra pull now is awesome right through 4th and 5th.

If I ever get round to completing the mods - which I blimmin well should as I'm paying for the insurance now  - I may try to one day come along to a meet, might even come find you and see if I can get it > 100 on that stretch.

No clue what kinda bhp etc I'll end up with but I have a feeling yours should be a tad faster due to a bigger turbo IIRC - mine is 'only' going to be a phase 1 :)

Yep, have one of those. COme off a roundabout at 30 in third gear and see what speed ur doing under the first bridge.

All my mates use it when they get new cars. I used to moan like hell about it when I had vtecs. 30 in second gear would have been faster for me but I currently hold the fastest time under it so not moaning now!

I wish I held the fastest time. :( The "TTB" league has some cars of around 135mph+ And its always from stationary as well (well, it IS a red traffic light) Then there's a tricky upward sloping left hander on to the dual carriageway which must be taken with care and not recklessly, then just hoof it the remaining distance to the footbridge. :D

I have one of these

Traffic lights to the railway crossing

just a thought though if i hit the crossing to fast could i burst me tyres :D

I found the furby vRS hits around 85-90

and my old Sierra 2.0i would hit 80-85

don't know times though but i think Fabia does it loads quicker

To be fair my fastest time was not in my current oil burner. It was when I had the pleasure of owning a beautiful FD3S RX7 with around 380bhp. Only ever had one contender really and that was my mates STi6. He would prob have been faster, had he not been limited to 125 bwahahahaha

Sadly my previous employers have written to me asking for the security pass to be returned - so I dont have any "private roads" available to me anymore :(

I have 'The Lampost' standing start from a roundabout. Used to just to say get to 60, now make 70 with the 1 click :) and a lot of wheel spinning. They've put temporary traffic lights on now and spoiled the fun.
