Tiptronic

Featured Replies

Had a few cars with an auto Tiptronic gear change , but never reall y bothered using them all that much. Maybe for a long steep hill decent but that was about it. I have a Petrol 1.6 auto Fabia 3 with a tiptronic feature , so today I thought I might spend my entire 42 mile trip using the manual change feature only. Started off in D then fipped stick across to Tiptronicat the top of my road & off we went. I quite enjoyed usint the slap -stick &as under normal driving my Auto seldom gets up int 6th gear ,selecting it manually was quite a treat & obviously aided economy . I could see the feature being useful for a towing vehicle or living in a very hilly area . However I don't think I would keep using it as a regular practice . My X type jag has a " J " Gate  I occasionally  use D/4/3 on that but usually just use D in that also & rely on Kickdown. Anybody else  find Tiptronic useful ?
