Fabia III - Interior Light Stuck On

Featured Replies

I picked up my 1 yr old mk III Fabia (from a car supermarket) today. Very nice car but have found that the interior light stays on when it is set in the "automatic" position when it should be activated by door opening/closing. It does go off 10mins after locking the car but stays on at all other times (including when driving). Putting the light in the off "0" position turns it off ok but I'd like it to come on as it should do.

Any suggestions for solving this appreciated (is it a known problem?).

Should I be able to get this sorted under warranty at a skoda dealership?

Thanks in advance.

Does the door symbol in the  display register the door being open then closed ??

Are all the lights on Inc rears ??

Thanks for your reply - I got this resolved (lets just put it down to user error!).

Hi what did you do to resolve this? I picked up my fabia yesterday and mine is doing the same.

The switch on the interior light doesn't work in a logical fashion, the switch has to be moved to the opposite symbol to what you would expect. Off is the middle position slide to the right for operate with the doors and slide left to switch on., i.e. the symbol that is exposed  indicates the function. I think this is back to front, intuitively you slide towards the symbol that shows the function you want.

That's where I've gone wrong! I'll try that thanks

Previous comment was right - it's not intuitive. Just slide it across!

It should be in the manual! (Which I find pretty rubbish). Does anyone know how to disable the 2nd speed? Manual says press the button till it flashes but it doesn't flash?

2nd speed?

Where the odometer is it displays your current speed in km/h. The manual says you can disable this.

It's done through the infotainment screen, or you can select a different piece of information with the steering wheel buttons or the trip buttons on the end of the wiper stalk. What model do you have?

I have a 14 reg 1.2 SE. I've tried the button on the dashboard and on the wiper stalk and it doesn't seem to work.

OK so you have a MaxiDOT cluster? With old-school dials for temperature and fuel, rather than a digital one? The two buttons at the end of the wiper stalk should scroll through the various things in the MaxiDOT, like fuel economy, distance driven etc.

If you go into the 'Car' settings on the infotainment unit, you can chose what things it displays in the MaxiDOT.

No I think it's digital, does that make a difference? I've scrolled through the different displays and couldn't change the odometer. I don't think I have car settings, I will look when I get home.

You might have a late Mk2- all the Mk.3 SE cars have the MaxiDOT.

I'm fairly sure that you can't easily turn off the km/h speedo in the Mk.2s, as they don't have the km/h in the main analogue speedo, just mph. The pre-facelift VW Polo Mk.5 and the Golf Mk.6 have the same 'issue'. Some people have set their cars to 'US' mode I think, which doesn't have the km/h speedo, but I think that does change temperature to Fahrenheit and the mpg to US gallons. Maybe there's another setting which you can change, I'm not sure, but it's certainly something that requires VCDS and isn't something you can just do.

Yes I do have a mk2. No worries I guess I'll  just have to put up with it. Thanks for all your help.
