We Buy Any Car Offers

Featured Replies

Hi

Just wondering what people have experienced in terms of offers made after inspection as compared to the website on WBAC?

Last time I looked at this when WBAC first came out people were saying the actual offers were much much lower, but now I notice the website allows you to add minor damage into the equation, so if you honestly describe your car is there any chance the initial offer will materialise?

I'm interested as I looked at a new VRS midway through last year through CarWow and the px

offer on my current VRS was £1000 less from the dealer than WBAC yesterday.

So either the WBAC offer is unrealistic or the Skoda dealer was pitching very low last year.

I got what the WBAC web site offered, and it was more than a local used car dealer had offered.

Skoda Main Dealers do not really want in a Mk2 when Mk3's are about to have a facelift, so at least them offering less than WBAC means they do not even have to send cars off to Auction they can have WBAC / BCA collect the car and be sure of a profit.

Then WBAC / BAC can make money selling to dealers looking for a profit.

Maybe just sell your car private or to a Trader and cut out Skoda Main dealer, WBAC / BCA, well if you find a buyer.

If WBAC is offering more than the dealer on cars more than 3-4 years old (ie the ones the dealer won't trade on themselves) it seems a no-brainer to use them.

The thread of course is about that "If"

As with many others don't really want the hassle/uncertainty/risk/time involved of selling privately.

I got offered 2250 for my 07 plate 100k miles that's with full service and 1 key

plus it's an ex police car, not a bad offer just slightly low I'd say

jaun27,

the latest WBAC adverts are telling potential customers exactly that, or making them think'

'Your time is worth more than the money you are losing possibly,

so flog your car cheaply and easily to us and let us make the profits.'

Hi I have had experience of wbac recently I took my bosses sons Audi, he has gone abroad travelling so we just needed the car moved out of our yard where it had sat for 2 months. They knocked it down £500 from the online price but in fairness I had missed a fair few small marks and a medium dent low down on the drivers door plus 3 of the 4 alloys needed work.

They do give you the choice to get the things done yourself or you can just walk away. we did get less than selling it privately but the main thing was shifting it and it was no hassle.

My only bad note was they seem to book 3 people in for each appointment and we had to be a bit pushy as all three clients turned up for our appiontment. The wbac guy said often no one turns up out of the 3.

I understand that they were rapped across the knuckles not long ago for their practice of "Quote high and knock off lots" and were forced to make their original quotes more realistic and closer to the actual price likely to be given.

Same thing happened to those companies that say they'll give you £120 for your old iPhone and you get a cheque for £48.59

To be fair the adverts are saying you might get more money selling privately, which seems fairly decent to me.

Its not just time of course. Selling privately you have to be willing to do without the car for a week or two before your new one arrives if its sells quickly and face storing/insuring/taxing a car you don't need (and finding a wodge of cash towards the new car) if it doesn't sell in time.  And you have to deal with all that wheeler dealer haggling nonsense from the punters if they turn up.

If you're motor is going to get auctioned off by the dealer anyway WBAC seems like a reasonable alternative to PX if the price is in the ballpark.

  • 2 weeks later...

just typed my car as looking for a vrs 3500 ive been quoted 3k on dealers sites small damage to a seat tiny hole added in site and they took 20  quid off now whether I get that or not is another thing

Recent experience with WBAC was good. The person I dealt with was able to use some discretion to override the computer so the difference in offer compared with original quote was halved as they accepted computer was being too harsh. I probably could have got more for the car privately but that relies on someone coming to buy it! With no real interest in mine, WBAC guaranteed I got something for it in a very easy efficient process. Gutted to let it go that way, would have preferred a fellow enthusiast to have bought it but needs must.
