need pointers about fabia key and immo

Hello,

I need some information if You can pleas help me out and point me to the right direction.

I have bought a wrecked Fabia Estate Ambiente 2006. 1.4 16v which is 6Y chassis (landed on the roof). I'm going to rebuild it with my father, but the guy that we bought it from only had one key. As it always happens to be, it's a spare key with no remote.

Can You please tell me if I buy a 3 button remote, will the trunk release work, or it needs some modification in the ecu (other than paring the remote and adding the key to immo)?

The second problem is the key it self. The price of the locksmiths here in Croatia for my particular vehicle is around 100€ for the flip key, which is 1/3 of my paycheck :( So naturally I would like to do it myself (hence the wrecked car). I don't have the pin for the immo (of course), but in my searches VAGtacho popped out a few times as a tool/cable whit which You can read the pin and add new key to the immo. Can it be done for the above model with VAGtacho cable and SW? If so, can You pleas tell me in which channel is the key written to the immo? On the pictures in the user manual of VAGtacho You can choose between channel 1 and 21 when adding new key to the immo. I saw in the VCDS tutorials (when You have the pin) they select the channel 1 does this correspond to the same thing?

And last question, can I pair the remote on this model using the driver side door method?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Ivan

Sounds like you know what you are doing almost already

I'm sure with a spare / used key for much cheaper you could pare the alarm/unlock aspect quite easily if the require key frequency, using the door method.

I know the vagtacho will do what you say for revealing the pin to code the car.

Check rosstech for the supporting information, you are in the wrong forum really for VCDS specific support.

You probably also need a fresh uncoded IMO chip for the new key if putting into an old key with recut blade.

I have tried to inform my self as much as possible before posting here. The key that I am thinking of ordering is 1K0 959 753, it comes with virgin ID48 transponder and the freq is 434Mhz. The key is new and not used. I hope it will match since I don't have the original to compare them. To answer my own question about channels when adding a key with VAGtaho, as I managed to find out, channel 1 is used for immo version 1, and channel 21 for immo version 2 and 3.

Regards, Ivan

Surely its cheap enough for punt, other factors beyond right freq - it appears to be - will affect if it works or not, like if its a dodgy imitation product from a dodgy seller.

Hello again,

I have got my cable a few days ago (Vagtacho USB 3.01 CN version ofc.) and I hit a snag. I have got the immo pin on my Fabia sedan 2003 without any problems as a test. But I have bought this cable so I can get the pin on my Fabia combi 2006 that I am rebuilding with my father, unfortunately I get "Access Denied". I don't have a pic at the moment but I would get some thing like this:

"XXXXXXXX(part of my vin) KOMBIINSTRUMENT VDO V04

Check for VDO tacho...

Tacho is VDO! Try to login... Please wait!

Software version: XXXXXX (can't remember from the top of my head)

ACCESS DENIED!"

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ivan

your version of bag tacho ain't compatible.

had the same with mine..

had to use vag tacho 2.5 or perhaps 2.2

to make it work.

I'm waiting on VCP  (vag can pro).

in the quest of this including mk5/6 platform also.

three button remote wil work ..no need to code or anything else..I had a two button remote & just purchased the three button "sleeve" part of the fob for my old Fabia & it worked ok...I think there might have been some combination of presses to get it to initialise, but no need for VCDS or ECU coding...
