Keyed Fabia

Featured Replies

 Some idiot has decided to key my Fabia....SOB! Damn idiots...a wonderful scratch right down the passenger door....why would anyone do this? With the black paint it is very obvious it is there as they have dug right down to the primer....I have been quoted

Pete,

Sorry to here that, I have heard good things about www.chipsaway.co.uk although it proberbly depends on your franchisee. never used them myself. they list vandal scratches as one of the things they can fix without respraying the whole panel.

Halfords are now doing scratch repair kits which are apprently good for scratches down to the metal. You get 3 'pens' a primer, the colour and a laquer i think in a set for

Bad luck on the vandalism :(

I've used a similar touch-up pack from Halfords on a metallic silver Micra,

and the finish you get is good compared to normal touch-up sticks.

However, I was using it on a small section on the edge of the door frame,

so don't know what it would be like for a large panel scratch.

Rob.

I've used ChipsAway on my other halfs Lupo. The guy I dealt with was very good but Mannyo is right, they are a franchise.

However, if the scratch is right down the middle of a large panel they may not be able to help, they seem to need something to divide the area up eg on the Lupo the mark was between the bottom of the door and the rubber 'bump' strip, so any slight variations in colour etc are only noticable on very close inspection.

They can work wonders with kerbed alloys though.

B******s!

It happened to me once on a much loved Pug 205 GTi.

My advice is; whatever you do get it repaired professionally otherwise you'll always be aware of it...

Sorry, but it's not 'b******s', yes

Sorry to hear that its sickening especially when you try to keep a car at its best.

No worries!

Chop their bloody hands off, that's what I say!

Thanks for the advice guys! I went round to Halfords where they do that chips away thing and no score....too deep and too big....the scratch goes from one side of the door to the other....and then up and down......sorta like a cross...or X marks the spot......

Anyhow, the body repair fella said he does work for my dealer.....but before I give the go ahead I am going to ask my dealer about the warranty situation...thanks for that tip...I never thought about it!

I wish I knew who keyed my car.....

Pete

Hope you get it sorted ok, I had a keyed rear door on my 1998 Felicia that I have been meaning to get sorted the door was also dented slightly but didn't notice too much, any way I went to Roadside rescue www.skospares.com for some alloys today (Skoda dismatalers Poole Dorset) unfortunately they had sold them before I arrived, However in there yard I noticed a door on a car the same colour & year as the one I need to repair in excellent condition, the owner feeling sorry that I had a wasted journey sold it to me for
