Exterior modding

Featured Replies

Ever noticed how most cars that are modded, are done in extremely bad taste?

Why is this?

Do they not actually look at it properly and think "that looks w@nk"?

Things like lexus lights on most cars, but especially things like focuses, puntos and corsas which quite blatantly dont have the right shaped lights for things like that (mind you, lexus lights look **** anyway IMO).

Or wheels that are too big.

Or silly exhausts that just look totally toss.

I see a lot of modded cars and think, why?

Each to their own, but nevertheless, discuss :D

Hi Paul

Thought it was an Essex phenomenon. 8" tailpipe, 20" alloys, airfix kit body and mock lexus lights are a must round here. Do these people really think it looks good:confused:

Best one I have seen in the last couple of weeks was a guy in a Mk4 Golf. Lowered with big alloys on it, he was turning right in front of me, but had to reverse out of the small side road as he did not have enough steering lock to get round it. I had been following him for a whaile and was wondering why he was taking such odd lines around the corners.

Chris

PS Forgot the Clio Old shape) with a set of eight 3" tailpipes.

I do often think along those lines Paul. I have a hard time getting my head round the fact that they might take a step back and admire the handiwork, "yeah that looks good that does".

But yeah, it would be terribly boring if we were all the same wouldn't it?!

Puts me in mind of a messed about Punto I saw last month, and he'd spelt 'A R S E' on the back, where the Punto badge should be. I thought that was quite appropriate

At the end of the days guys, a majority of those lads & lasses who modify thier cars this way is due to the lack of money to buy a 'sporty car'. It's the cheapest way of looking flash in front of the girls (and boys) and yeah, I agree it looks naff as well but money is the answer to this one.

Fair point that, but often the Pax Power ones you see, the ones that seem to make the front of the magazine anyway (that's as far as I look when in WH Smith!) often have £'0000s spent on them.

So while for the most part it's a lack of cash and they resort to driving through Halfrauds 'Ripspeed' section and seeing what's still stuck on by the time they come out again, there are a few that clearly have more money than sense :)
