Another drl/ sidelight question

Featured Replies

ive fitted led in the sidelights and rather like the look. It's a 2015 vrs with the led  drl strip. How do you code the sidelights to be on when the drl's are on ie even in daylight

I don't have the answer for you, but wouldn't it look weird? Would need to see it to make up my mind.

The side light channels are

16BLK

17TFL

Just add "daytime running light" to the E channel, and the set the EF dimmerwert to 100 (on both BLK & TLF)

Presumably you can remove the function for them to perform as sidelights as well? I can't see the need for them if the DRL dims to also perform the sidelight role.

@johnrowley Did you get down to ever doing this mod? Do you have any pics/vids of what it looks like?

Hi all,

I've tried to code so that the small side lights (eyelashes) turn off when indicating, done the same with the DRL LED bars and works perfectly on both sides.

Channel 16BLK (left side eyelashes) does turn off when indicating but the right side dosent despite the exact same function setup on both 16BLK and 17TFL. Lichtfunktion G is set to "Blinken links aktiv (beide Phasen)" and Dimming Direction GH is "minimize".

Any advice?

Thanks!

Now my German is sketchy. But I think what you've done is ask the right sidelight to turn of when the left indicator is active? "Links" translates to left, I'm fairly sure.

That makes sense!

And obliviously I need to learn German before coding any further :D

Thank you!

Yes and I like the look but doesn't work well to photograph

Well... guess I will just code it to see what it looks like - easy enough to do and undo ;)

I was changing the right side T10 bulb (for eyelashes) to LED and dropped the damn thing in the small housing :(

Now I can't even see it and don't know how to get it out, I think I have to suck it out with a vacuum cleaner as a magnet doesn't work..

Just hope that the bulb doesn't rattle it self to the main headlamp housing while driving as that would be a mission impossible to get out!

Anyone here encountered the same issue on a Octy MK3 with xenons and solved it?

I just deactivated the side lights. They're not as effective as those on the Superb so I didn't see the point in them plus the DRL strip.
