Rust on almost 10 year Fabia

Featured Replies

Ok, I've got to put my hands up and say washing cars isn't high on my list of jobs I look forward to so, any ways I washed the wife's Fabia ( bought new 10/03/2007 ) and I've noticed rust coming through the original paint on the end of the sill where it forms the wheel arch, it's now decided to p*ss down ( yeah yeah I know blame me !! ) so I can't really have a good look but I seem to remember the anti corrosion warranty on this was 10 years is it worth me going to see Skoda ( it'll have to be DM Keith at York as Chapmans of Pickering are no longer there, they were the supplying dealer ) car hasn't seen a Skoda dealer since it's three year warranty expired but my understanding is that Skoda can't penalise me for that

so the 64000 $ question is it worth me going or will I be totally wasting my time

I managed to get a new boot lid and rear quarter repaired due to rust and that was at dm Keith Leeds, so I'd say go down and have a word.

My 56 plate fabia is rusty along the rear sills, worse on the drivers side but I put it down to driving on salty roads combined with all the stone chips which occur under there.

It shouldn't be structural rust just bubbling under the paint.

Worth a try but I doubt they would do anything

Always worth asking.

Always easy to knock back Body Panel Warranty claim because of the T&C's and there being found to be no 'Perforation' of a panel,

but a pin hole is a perforation and that is behind the paint and in the corrosion of the metal,

but then the T&C required a 'Body Condition report' done Annually or Bi-annually, which would have needed Main Dealer Servicing and the Technician doing the body inspection over a 12 year period.
