Anyone measured vehicle height with weight in boot?

Featured Replies

Bear with me on this one.

Factory height of the vRS TDI is 1452mm, my roof bars are 50mm and the roof box is 400mm at it's tallest bit.  This means that the overall vehicle height would be 1902mm.

When we go on holiday this year, the car will be loaded up with camping gear, maybe a couple of hundred kilos.  On the way home we are going to stay in Paris for two nights.  The hotel car park says max height 1900mm.

Will the car fit, or is this the perfect opportunity to get some lowering springs!?!?!

Obviously I will be mocking it all up and measuring but just interested in people thoughts.  Would the car "naturally" be more than 2mm lower when loaded?

It's okay you going to great time and trouble to be exact with your measurements - but were they as precise? :wondering:

In saying that, you'd hope that there was 'some' leeway in their measurements - but it's a long way to go to find out differently!

Yes it will be

I had a trip to Germany last year, moving some stuff. I had 4 suitcases in the boot, boxes on the back seat and I could just fit my palm between the top of tyre and the rear panel. I`m driving a vRS hatch

Just get the lowering kit

You know you want too
