Hi all,

 

I noticed now and again my GTI makes this noise from the front end like it is releasing some sort of pressure/hissing noise. Could it be gas leaking from the front shocks?

Has anyone got any advice? Is it the same setup on the VRS?

Occasionally, going over bumps, it's not unusual to hear a hiss. Is it a new noise, or has it always happened?

Same set up,  Polo, A1, Ibiza, Fabia.

Is there 'misting' on the damper. Usually mentioned as an advisory at the MOT or by a Tech at servicing.

I have always noticed it but never really thought until now what it could be.

 

I haven't checked the damper or been advised of anything in the MOT and service. Next chance I get I may hire a ramp and check them myself.

Just jack the car up with the wheel still on and look and feel the damper.
