2010 vrs 2.0 tsi starter motor

Featured Replies

Hi

Starter motor just failed on my vrs. Anybody changed one? Just wondering if theres a guide thread as couldnt find one.

Cheers

Have you proved it is the starter?  I've not seen a guide, and i'm not out by the car but from memory it is on the passenger side, you likely need to remove battery and battery platform, airbox and pipework, remove cabling to starter and then the bolts securing it in place (2 or 3)....

Yes removed starter and tested. Only took 20 mins. Starter motor located underneath air box. Removed air box and air intake to front grille. remove 1 plug and earth wire. Starter held in with 2 16mm bolts. Only problem is skoda/tps have none in the uk and have a 2 week back order. Got one from eurocarparts but its the wrong one! Gsf managed to get me one using the part number from the original. Should be with me tomorrow. Fingers crossed it the right one.

Mmm. Sounds a little difficult. Hope GSF works out. If you've got the Original Part number an internet search will sometimes allow you to find suppliers of OEM equivalents like Bosch or Hella that don't always advertise or list it as an Octavia Starter. as it will be the same one in all EA888 2.0l engines..

I use Eurocarparts but their online part finder for part compatibility is pretty poor - it always brings up huge listing of parts applicable to other spec models and sometimes pre facelift parts and then sometimes doesn't have the right part listed for the vehicle you have specified. Sometimes a phonecall can yield results to double check and cross reference, if there is no detail in the fitment tab on their website.
