Eaton supercharger

Featured Replies

alright chaps just wanted your mechanical opinion on this , why have VAG used a roots type supercharger on the twin charger over the more efficient twin screw ? the roots charger produces way more heat than the twinscrew so theoretically if we could change from roots to twinscrew because from the outside the units look identical you would get lower temps?? apparently eaton made the supercharger unit in the twin charger specifically for VAG with the gear ratio's inside and I'm sure it's called a M44

Not a scooby, but they got that Supercharger right, it is just a shame the Inlet with the Turbo is a bodge.

the roots supercharger doesn't compress the air though and creates a lot of heat so what advantage does it have over a twin screw supercharger ?

Not a scooby as said already.

Do you have you have your engine running properly without misfires?

He does now his R8 coil packs all work correctly, eh Tom ;)

They'll have a used a roots type because they're cheaper to produce and the heat doesn't really matter as there's an intercooler. The turbo heats the air much more and at higher RPM therefore a higher flow rate so the intercooler is comparatively huge for the supercharged part of the rev range.
